Be part of something unique and help young people know that Childline is always there for them, to help them look after their mental health.

The conversation around mental health has changed a lot over recent years. But there’s still too much disinformation out there, especially online, about what mental health is, what can make a difference, and why we feel the way we feel. It can be hard for young people to navigate all of this and find out what’s going to really help them. When young people take care of their mental health little and often, and when they find what works for them and their minds, we know that it can help build resilience and make a big difference. Childline can help them do that, by delivering everyday mental health advice and support and meeting young people where they are – on social media.

To support this, we created the ‘Unbox your brain’ challenge, funded by Lidl GB. We worked with three amazing influencers - Rosie McClelland, Jordon Wilson, and Dan Rhodes – who we know young people engage with and look up to. They were all given head sculptures designed by Murugiah, Andrew Hudson, and Ngadi Smart who each created an exclusive design inspired by all the unique and different things that go on inside our minds.

Each influencer filled their sculpture with things that represented what goes on in their heads – the good, the bad, and the ugly. And then unpacked them with Radio 1 Xtra presenter Richie Brave, so they could find out what will help them look out for their mental health every day. This challenge will be shared on social media, where (with the support of our brilliant influencers) we hope to reach even more young people and feel more relevant to their daily lives. We want to send a message to young people that, while things aren’t always easy, there are things that they can do to look out for themselves. And that Childline is a place where they can find ideas, advice, and support that works for them.

Now you can help us keep this message going. These one-of-a-kind sculptures are up for auction tonight. Every pound you raise will help Childline continue to meet young people where they are, and help deliver authentic, reliable, and everyday mental health advice and support. You can help us make a real difference to so many young people’s lives.

Thank you to our agency House of Oddities for creating the campaign.
